Neon Zebra
Kevin Connolly Gillespie
We are delighted to present limited edition prints by artist - Kevin Connolly Gillespie.
Kevin is originally from South Africa , currently residing in Brooklyn where he continues his art practice. Originally trained in Tibetan Buddhist painting techniques , Kevin has been developing his original style - incorporating elements from the Eastern art form , blending it with contemporary painting techniques to express his ardent conviction for wildlife preservation.
Neon Zebra (2020) is a prime example of Kevin’s vision and art execution.
The background is a monotone pattern of lotus flowers and respirators poignantly suggesting the current reality of our method to achieve peace and tranquility midst a pandemic. In nature , black and white stripe pattern on zebras is a form of camouflage to confuse predators. The artist realized the presence of an “invisible predator” which capsized the power balance of humans vs nature. The Neon Zebra in its stance and a vibrant gradation of fluorescent colors is an iconic symbol of the reversal of pray vs predator roles.
The quality of the print is superb. We are amazed by the brilliance of colors . The visual pop it possesses is pure eye candy.
The print is 16 “ x 24” - executed using archival ink glèche print on 320gram cold pressed archival paper. The editions are very limited , at 20 total editions with only few prints remaining. Each print is $200 (+ tax and shipping).
